As if FaceBook and YouTube weren't enough, here's another website I find myself signing up for and can picture wasted hours spent blabbing about my life :)
But hey, my life is interesting...at least I think it is! So here we go Blogger!
I was in Las Vegas visiting my sister on the day that Michael Jackson passed away. I watched in shock as they discussed the death of such a huge icon. I started thinking about my childhood. About how so many of MJ's songs played a part in my growing up. Daddy playing "Who's Loving You?" while daydreaming, my cousin singing "Got To Be There" in the early morning hours after returning home from a 'rendezvous' the night before, "Rockin Robin" blasting from the speakers at a Sunset 12th Ward New Year's Eve Dance, watching my brother's attempt the moonwalk in the kitchen with socks on, waiting for MTV to play "The Way You Make Me Feel" (back when MTV concentrated on music videos & not reality shows LOL), "You Are Not Alone" on repeat for 2 months when my boyfriend at the time (who shall remain nameless) left to serve an LDS mission...and many, many more.
My sister and I cried as we watched his funeral services and our children wondered why, knowing we had never MET the man. But he was a talented, revolutionary musician that was linked to memories (good and bad) that are forever engraved into our hearts. And it saddened me that my sons may never have a "Michael Jackson" in their lifetime.
So tonight, I wanted to share a final Michael Jackson moment with the 2 little men of my life. "THIS IS IT" comes out in theaters tomorrow but we were able to attend it here in Cedar City tonight at 10pm. Knowing it was a school night, I had the boys take a nap for a few hours before the show started.
I would suggest that everyone watch the movie. As young as my children are, even they knew that what they were witnessing was a genius at work. Lorenzo, Halatau and I sang along to the songs, danced in our seats and watched in amazement.
There's a section in the movie when Michael says "let it simmer...let it simmer". If you watch it, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Tonight was great! There were times throughout the movie when I would look over at my kids and smiled at the happy expressions on their faces. They are only this young once. Soon, they will get older and I will long for nights like this. I "let it simmer" tonight. I will never forget tonight and I hope my sons will always remember.
Thanks for yet another memory, MJ!
